Despite its ever thriving online business, one of the UK’s largest bingo operators, Gala, has announced it is to close yet another Bingo hall, this time in Birmingham.
Gala report that the triple blow of the smoking ban, higher taxation levels and new gambling laws which prohibit big jackpot gambking machines have all contributed to the decesion.
Seventeen jobs will go at the Bingo club in Great Barr, which will be closing its doors to players on June 23.

The worry is that this could be the shape of things to come - the current UK economic climate means that families have less disposable income than this time last year - a trend that looks set to get worse rather than better over this year.

Whilst we’re all for more people playing online bingo, we are also mindful that the slow death of the traditional bingo halls in the Uk would be an extremely bad thing all round.
