Good Morning and welcome to my first proper Bingo Dave post. In this note i will be discussing Gala Bingo and my first experience at one of their bingo halls. I made the trip to the local hall in Swindon, Wiltshire last night to see what was on offer and to savior the atmosphere. I can tell you right now , wow !…. Bingo as i remembered as a child was to sit on the pier at one of those little desks with the slider boards and watch the numbers flash up in the centre console. Gala Bingo was the total opposite. I had young , old and obscure players around me, all with their dabbers at the ready and lucky charms etc. Their was me with my biro and short attention span that when the game started i was already multiple numbers behind as i was still amazed at all the activities going on around me. There was fruit machines , bars , food and people chatting away about all sorts, i couldn’t concentrate but i can see now why Bingo is so popular, people use the hall as a meeting place just like the online chat rooms and forums on the latest bingo sites. I will be going into more depth as the memories flood back and the pictures arrive so keep an eye out… !

Let me start by saying a big hello to all you loyal Bingo players. My name is Dave and im here to express my views and answer any questions that you may have about the lovely game of Bingo. Ive longed to find a job where im allowed to not only to play the game of bingo for a living but to write about my day to day adventures aswell. Im 28 years old and not really your typical bingo player as you will see from the pictures to follow, but i love the game and the people i meet playing it. Ive been on my travels and visited alot of bingo halls and met some fantastic people with some amazing stories that i will share with you over the coming weeks. In the game of BINGO there are seventy-five numbers broken up into five groups of fifteen each; B-1 thru 15, I-16 thru 30, N-31 thru 45, G-46 thru 60, and O-61 thru 75.
The average BINGO card has five columns with the letters B-I-N-G-O. The bingo player’s card has twenty four numbers; five numbers pre-printed in four of the rows under the letters B-I-G-O and four numbers under the letter N.
The total number of possible combinations that there exists are
552,446,474,061,129,000,000,000,000. (That’s 552 million-billion-billion ) possible BINGO winning cards. There would be almost 5 billion sets of cards in each set. Every card in each set would have the same twenty four numbers, but in a different arrangement on each card. If we take that there are six billion bingo players in the world at this momment, it means that there are 92 million-billion cards for each and every bingo player in the world.
Interesting fact :
If you lined up all four BINGO cards on a standard A4 sheet of paper, and you spread all of the A4 sheets over the surface of the earth, they would cover the earth to a depth of over 800 miles.

As we all know playing bingo online at home is fun and very addictive but do you know anything about the roots of bingo. Here i will tell you the origins and complete known history of bingo, so sit back, relax and let me tell you an intresting story.
Bingo’s history can be traced back to 1530, to an Italian lottery called “Lo Giuoco del Lotto D’Italia,” which is still played today every Saturday in Italy. From Italy the game was introduced to France in the late 1770s, where it was called “Le Lotto”, a game played among the wealthy. The Germans also played a version of the game in the 1800s, but they used it as a child’s game to help teach math, spelling and history.
When the game finally reached North America in 1929, it became known as “beano”. It was first played at a carnival near Atlanta, Georgia but the locals in their spare time and break time. A New York toy salesman Edwin S. Lowe renamed it “bingo” after he overheard someone mistakenally yelling “bingo” instead of “beano”. He hired a university math professor, Carl Leffler, to help him increase the number of combinations in the bingo cards. By 1930, Leffler had invented 6,000 different bingo cards. [It is said that Leffler then went insane.]. A Catholic priest from Pennsylvania approached Lowe about using bingo as a means of raising church funds. When bingo started being played in churches it became increasingly popular. By 1934, an estimated 10,000 bingo games were played weekly, and today more than 45 million pounds are spent on bingo each week in britain alone. So bingo as we know it has grown and grown into one of the biggest games played by all today.

Lady luck was smiling in one bingo player in Harlow this weekend - a bingo player won £50,000 at the Mecca Club.
She won the the cash in the National Bingo Game, and also cashed in another £105 by completing the clubs full house of 41 numbers!
Although she wants to keep her identity private, play-bingo-online.net can reveal that she has been playing bingo for 12 years, usually twice a week - and sometimes with her husband! However, on the night of the big bingo win, he was elsewhere - i wonder
She said: “He just didn’t believe me at first. I usually say I haven’t won, or just a small amount like £30 or £100 and I had to show him a copy of the claims form to convince him. My best win before this was £400.”
She added: “I’ve calmed down now but my bank manager will be shocked when I pay in the cheque.”
So where’s the big windfall going? She already has plans for it :- “We’ve not had one for two years ( holiday ) so I’m looking forward to some sun,”!
Bet she plays some bingo while she’s there!

Yes it’s true, even Robbie Williams has taken up the great game of Bingo! Robbie was taking part in a charity game, and was first to all BINGO! His prize? A Diane Merrick leopard-print handbag!! Lucky sod!
Proceeds from the charity event went to a Womens Breast Cancer charity.
